CASUALITIES OF THEIR OWN SUCCESS: THE 2011 URINATION INCIDENT IN AFGHANISTAN

This article explores an incident by a Marine Scout-Sniper platoon to provide an understanding on why members of an organization might engage in unethical and unprofessional behavior and the pivotal role that the command climate plays in determining such a behavior.  It compares the 2011 incident to My Lai, emphasizes the importance of strong leadership, and states, "It's a slippery slope to urinating on corpses, to raping women, to murdering kids..."
