COMMENCEMENT ADDRESS: CHIEF JUSTICE JOHN ROBERTS
3 June 2017 - In his 18 minute commencement address to the graduates of Cardigan Mountain School (9th Grade), Chief Justice John Roberts extends sage advice while hoping the students encounter the following experiences:
- Be treated unfairly to know the value of justice
- Suffer betrayal to understand the importance of loyalty
- Experience loneliness to value friendships and not take people for granted
- Endure bad luck to understand the role of chance in their lives
- Suffer losses where opponents gloat to understand the importance of sportsmanship
- Be ignored to know the importance of listening to others
- Experience enough pain to learn compassion
